Cover Girls - Margaret

Cover Girls is a project started during my Master’s degree at The University of Huddersfield, Cover Girls aims to add to representations of those who feel underrepresented through mainstream imagery. Showing there is more than one type of body shape, everyone is different and there is no ‘normal’ or ‘ideal’ image, even though society often says otherwise.

Each model was asked to use at least three positive words to describe themselves in the image, as people are always quick to point out the negatives about themselves. On some image they were asked to write a positive statement about how they felt about themselves in the image, boosting their confidence whilst highlighting the positive thigs about themselves and what makes them unique.

From Margaret…

I wanted to take part in this project because I feel it is extremely important to challenge the norms in fashion of skinny-minnie young people. I feel it is vital to represent all body types, sizes and ages.

I enjoyed taking part in the project - I never thought I would do anything like this, and am extremely pleased with what I have seen and done.
